Ingredients:

  • For the Sponge Cake:

    • 2 large eggs

    • 100g (1/2 cup) sugar

    • 100g (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour

    • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

    • 1/4 tsp baking powder

    • A pinch of salt

  • For the Milk Mixture:

    • 100ml (1/2 cup) evaporated milk

    • 100ml (1/2 cup) condensed milk

    • 100ml (1/2 cup) heavy cream

    • 2 tbsp sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a small baking dish.

  2. Make the sponge cake:

    • Beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.

    • Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together, then gently fold into the egg mixture along with the vanilla extract.

    • Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool slightly.

  3. Prepare the milk mixture:

    • In a bowl, mix the evaporated milk, condensed milk, heavy cream, and sugar (if using). Stir well to combine.

  4. Assemble the cake:

    • Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over the surface using a fork or skewer.

    • Pour the milk mixture evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Let it sit for at least 1 hour to absorb the milk.

  5. Serve:

    • Slice and enjoy the creamy, indulgent Trileçe!
