🛒 Ingredients:

  • 4 slices thick-cut bread (Pain de Mie or sourdough)

  • 2 tbsp butter (for toasting)

  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 4 slices ham (Jambon de Paris)

  • 100g (1 cup) grated Gruyère or Emmental cheese

🧑‍🍳 Béchamel Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 125ml (½ cup) milk

  • Pinch of nutmeg

  • Salt & pepper to taste

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

1️⃣ Make the Béchamel:

  • Melt butter in a pan, add flour, whisk for 1 min.

  • Gradually add milk, whisking until thick.

  • Season with salt, pepper & nutmeg.

2️⃣ Assemble the Sandwiches:

  • Spread Dijon mustard on 2 bread slices.

  • Layer with ham & cheese, then cover with another slice.

3️⃣ Toast:

  • Butter the outside of the bread.

  • Cook in a pan on medium heat until golden & crispy (2-3 min per side).

4️⃣ Final Touch:

  • Spread béchamel sauce on top, sprinkle extra cheese.

  • Broil (grill) in the oven 3-5 min until bubbly & golden.
